November is American Diabetes Month

As a woman who grew up with a father who had Type 1 diabetes I am particularly aware of the severity and impact diabetes has on the life of the person who has it, as well as their family and friends. I urge you to get educated, gain more awareness and access excellent resources through the American Diabetes Association. Diabetes is an epidemic in our country. Nearly 1.9 million Americans have type 1 diabetes, including about 244,000 children and adolescents
1.4 million Americans are diagnosed with diabetes every year.

Every year, the American Diabetes community comes together to ring the alarm on the diabetes epidemic to show the world what life with diabetes is really like and provide ways to manage it.

For the millions of people who are at risk for it, it’s a time to get educated, find resources and make sure all those around us are aware of their risk, too. And for the millions of us living with diabetes, it’s a chance to tell our stories and awaken the world. Until we find a cure, we will find each other and lift each other up. Will you join us?
